The journey of a JROTC cadet is filled with challenges, growth, and invaluable experiences that shape young leaders. At Lennard High School, the JROTC program not only emphasizes military training but also instills values of discipline, teamwork, and community service. What Cadets Can Expect This Year

The 2026–2027 school year will give Longhorn Battalion cadets opportunities to lead, compete, serve, and grow. Throughout the year, cadets will take part in leadership development, physical fitness, team activities, community service, school events, and competitive programs such as Raiders, Drill, and Color Guard.

More Than a Class

Army JROTC is designed to help students become confident leaders and responsible citizens. Cadets learn how to work as a team, communicate effectively, solve problems, set goals, and take responsibility for themselves and others.

There is no obligation to join the military by participating in JROTC. The skills cadets develop are valuable whether they plan to attend college, enter the workforce, pursue a trade, or serve in the military after graduation.

Get Involved

Cadets are encouraged to take advantage of everything the Longhorn Battalion has to offer. Whether competing on a team, volunteering in the community, participating in school events, or stepping into a leadership position, every cadet has the opportunity to contribute.
